School Supplies and Ice Cream Given to Neighborhood Children

On Saturday, August 16, 2008 Emmaus Lutheran church passed out 200 bags of school supplies, 60 grocery bags of canned goods, and 200 ice cream treats to the Fox Park, McKinley Heights and Benton Park neighborhood children and families.
The children and parents arrived at the Emmaus school at 5:00 p.m. where they were registered and then each child given an age appropriate bag of school supplies and ice cream treat. Children grades 1 through 12 were served by this community service project.
The school supply distribution is the fourth event this year that Emmaus has sponsored for the children in our surrounding neighborhoods. Many children we served at the Valentine party last February and Vacation Bible School in June stopped by for school supplies.
Generous donations were made by the following to make this community project possible.
